We will be hosting a special seminar for the 3-Year-Old future martial artists called the "Tiny Tigers." Sempai will be working with the kids on various drills and skills including balance, eye-hand coordination, teamwork and patience.
The seminar is scheduled for 1:30pm on August 7th and is open to the entire community. Space is limited so you do need to reserve a spot for your "Tiny Tiger" to attend. Just call the karate school at 586-573-3881.
Sempai Strecker begins her Black Belt Camp tomorrow by travelling to Ann Arbor where she will train under Grandmaster Hafner for the next 16 weeks. Sensei will be teaching Saturday classes while Sempai is gone.
She has a series of requirements from both Sensei and Grandmaster Hafner that need to be completed in order to promote to her San Dan. These include:
16 katas, Bo kata, Nunchaku kata, 10 knife defenses, a 6 station board break with at least one being a double board, write a booklet detailing the history of Denny Strecker's Karate, and at least one Skydive jump to overcome her fear of heights.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Belt Presentation which will take place in late November in Ann Arbor. Keep your eyes and ears open for more details as Sempai progresses through camp.

We have 150 people registered for the picnic and more saying they are thinking about it. It is going to be a great day – games, food, friends and fun!
Students and guests were treated to a fantastic seminar by Christina Pappas who is a personal traininer and nutrition expert. She spoke to the group and taught them the importance of reading labels and how to find good choices to eat and drink.
Christina will be conducting this seminar again on Saturday at 12pm. If you would like to attend, please call the karate school and reserve your space.

Sempai Strecker worked with 30 local day campers teaching them the skills of respect, teamwork and goal setting. It was hard to tell who had more fun – the kids or the counselors.
